Ancient, Anubis and more Fun Stuff added in latest CS2 Update

Valve did a great job again last night and added two new maps to the Counter-Strike 2 Beta: Ancient and Anubis. There were also other fun innovations, including a separate inspect animation for the bomb.

New Maps added to the Beta

In a new update Valve recently released two new maps to the CS2 beta client: Ancient and Anubis. Especially Ancient's aesthetics have benefited massively from the new Source 2 engine and particularly its graphical improvements. Even though there have been less drastic visual changes to Anubis, especially its water areas at CT Spawn or in Canals display the beautiful water and definitely make it a joy to see. We have gathered a few screenshots for both maps:

There have also been great videos displaying the astonishing map changes and below you can find a few examples from Valve and content creators:

Chickens can now swim

The most important change and upgrade to CS2, at least for some: chickens can actually swim in water now! This applies to several areas on Anubis, so for example in the Canals area or CT Spawn.

The Bomb now has an Inspect Animation

Another very interesting change and sort of an easter egg moment for all of those that fired up their CS2 beta client right after the update was released (Valve, give access please).

With Ancient and Anubis now released to the CS2 Beta, the only map missing from the 7-map competitive map pool is now Inferno. There have been rumours that Valve is planning to release all of the competitive map pool to the beta first and afterwards maybe unleashing further information, an open beta or even the full game. Only time will tell what Valve is cooking, but these changes have been very exciting for sure.
