Comparison

If you look closely at the stats above, you'll see that the R8 Revolver and the Desert Eagle are damage-wise relatively close to each other. The Desert Eagle has a higher movement speed and takes less time to reload. In contrast to that, the R8 Revolver has only 16 bullets, which makes it much more punishing if you miss a shot or two.

The R8 Revolver even has 2 different fire modes. Paired with the only weapon that has a random spray pattern, the R8 Revolver is indeed a unique weapon in all of Counter-Strike history.

Which one should I choose then?

The Desert Eagle and R8 Revolver are designed for different purposes and playstyles:

The Desert Eagle is designed for highly skilled players who understand every movement and recoil impact on the accuracy of the Desert Eagle. Missing the first shot while using the Desert Eagle or hitting a body shot will happen if you are not standing still or actively canceling your movement by counter-strafing.

The R8 Revolver on the other hand is much more fitting for players who are here to have fun and want to have an incredible long-range accuracy combined with the same damage output while using the secondary fire in short-range fights. However, you need to keep in mind that the R8 Revoler can not shoot immediately and needs 0.2 seconds to cook the hammer. This can be actively used to your advantage by peeking the corner at the exact moment of the shot going off. As it only comes with 16 bullets, spamming or missing shots is not an option.

Both options are definitely viable, but the Desert Eagle is preferred by the larger part of the CS community due to its long history in multiple CS games and its high impact potential for a fair price. But if you consider yourself a fun player, go give the R8 Revolver a try. Even if it does not have the best reputation, it can be used to dominate eco rounds against full-buy enemies. In the end it all comes down to personal preference, so why don't you test both options and see which one fits your personal playstyle the best?

And whatever you choose in the end, you can find the right skin for your choice right here, whether it's the Desert Eagle or R8 Revolver.
