The standout feature of this update is the return of Cache. This fan-favorite map is back, and the developers did an excellent job bringing it to life. You could even say they’ve meticulously recreated the real-life city of Pripyat within Counter-Strike.

Even though players are already familiar with the map, it’ll take some time to adjust to all the changes. That said, a few major differences have already been spotted.

First, you no longer need to open the door to climb the boxes near A main, also known as Shroud. Now, you can jump onto a small ledge above number 04, then onto the lamp, and from there reach the box.

Second, on the same A site, wallbanging the area behind the door is no longer possible. The grated windows now block bullets.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t destroy the A site door with an HE grenade. That’s not exactly a change, but it’s still an important detail to keep in mind. Finally, Valve’s version of Cache doesn’t include the iconic s1mple graffiti. Instead, the spot features a couple of simple technical posters.

Is Cache back to Competitive yet?

For now, the map is available in all main modes except Premier. This is likely only temporary. Changes to the competitive map pool are expected after the IEM Cologne Major, and by then Cache may be even more refined and ready to replace one of the current maps.
